The Grudge returns in 2020 Takashi Shimizu, the original director, switched to the 2004 movie Stateside, starring Sarah Michelle Geller. Gore Verbinski’s Ring the Grudge was a huge success in the US with a gross budget of $100 million, as opposed to the incredibly popular Ring. Nevertheless, the inevitable sequel was embraced after two years with less wind, with the first movie grossing more than double the budget to $39 million Grudge 2020 . In 2009 a third video entry was released and then the franchise became inactive (no, it doesn’t count Sadako v Kayako).
