The Grudge returns in 2020 Takashi Shimizu, the original director, switched to the 2004 movie Stateside, starring Sarah Michelle Geller. Gore Verbinski’s Ring the Grudge was a huge success in the US with a gross budget of $100 million, as opposed to the incredibly popular Ring. Nevertheless, the inevitable sequel was embraced after two years with less wind, with the first movie grossing more than double the budget to $39 million Grudge 2020 . In 2009 a third video entry was released and then the franchise became inactive (no, it doesn’t count Sadako v Kayako).

There was still the rumble of a new Kuhni movie, but it wasn’t made officially until Jeff Buhler was hired to write the screenplay in 2014. The film was completed by 2017 by director Nicholas Pace, who made waves from his 2016 debut movie My Father of My Son The Grudge 2020. Buhler had been hired to rewrite the script and direct it.

Pace seems to have created his film as a “sidequel” to the 2004 film (via Bloody Disgust), implying that the new film’s events will coincide with Sarah Michelle Gellar’s ghosts The Grudge 2020
